Endoscopic Brow Lift :

The effects of ageing are inevitable and the forehead and brow are often the first areas to show the signs. In some people the appearance of the brow may be hereditary. The resulting appearance of frown lines, wrinkling across the forehead and heaviness of the eyebrows may cause you to look tired, angry and sad. These changes can be reversed by a procedure called a brow-lift.

The procedure is usually performed under general anaesthesia and may be combined with other procedures. The incisions are placed behind the hairline and are therefore not visible. There are usually two to three incisions. With the aid of an endoscope the brow is then elevated to reduce sagging of the skin at the eyelid level. The incisions are closed with metal clips and these are removed after one week. The procedure takes approximately thirty minutes. There may be some swelling and/or bruising for approximately ten days which may extend to the eye and cheek areas as well. Sleeping with your head elevated and cold compresses help reduce the swelling.

There may be some numbness of the forehead after surgery but this is usually temporary. Rarely this may persist. Extremely rarely there may be some weakness of the forehead muscles. This should however recover as it is only due to bruising and stretching of the nerves supplying these muscles.

As with all cosmetic surgery, it is not an exact science. The results therefore cannot be guaranteed although every attempt is made to achieve these aims.
